Receiving Salary During Holidays: An Islamic Perspective for Teachers

Is it Permissible for Teachers to Receive Salary During Holiday Months?

Question: I am a teacher at a private school. My question is, how appropriate is it to receive a salary for the months when teachers have holidays?

Answer: If there is an agreement with the school to receive a salary during the holiday months, then it is permissible to take the salary. If no such agreement exists, then the teacher should not take a salary for those months. In private educational institutions, monthly salaries are often not deducted during short holidays, but if there are extended holidays, the salary may be deducted. In any case, the system of the institution should be followed regarding salaries.
