Can You Read the Quran Without Wudu? Clarifying the Conditions for Quran Recitation
Question: Respected Sheikh, if one does not have wudu (ablution), can they open and read the Quran while their hands and body are clean? Is wudu absolutely necessary for reading the Quran?
Answer: Wudu is not a condition for reciting the Quran. You can open and recite the Quran without wudu, and there is no harm in doing so. However, it is good to perform wudu before reciting the Quran, but it is not obligatory. You can read the Quran by looking at it or from memory without wudu, and there is no issue in this.
