Accidents in Ihram: Do You Need to Offer a Sacrifice (Dam) for Umrah?
Question: If someone sets out for Umrah in the state of Ihram and has an accident on the way, do they need to offer a sacrifice (dam) and send money to the Haram for the sacrifice?
Answer: If a person has donned the Ihram for Umrah and then has an accident, it depends on whether they are able to perform Umrah at that time. If they are able to perform Umrah, they should proceed and complete it. However, if they need medical treatment, they should remain in the state of Ihram and seek treatment. Once Allah grants them recovery, they should go to the Haram in the same state of Ihram and complete their Umrah, avoiding the prohibitions of Ihram as much as possible during this period. Therefore, in the case of an accident, there is no need for a sacrifice (dam); rather, the person should complete the Umrah, either immediately or after receiving necessary treatment.
