Validity of Wudu with Dental Caps and Artificial Teeth
Question: My husband has placed a cap on his teeth, will his ablution (wudu) be valid with it on?
Answer: In wudu, there is an instruction to rinse the mouth. Therefore, if someone has a cover on a tooth, braces on the teeth, or an artificial tooth, in all these cases, it is not necessary to remove these items because rinsing means to take water in the mouth and swirl it around, which cleans the mouth. Thus, there is no need to remove these things for wudu. However, if it is easy to remove and causes no hardship, one should remove the cap and then perform wudu. But if removing it causes hardship, like if it is fixed on the tooth, then wudu is valid without removing it.
