Choosing the Right Supplication for Witr Prayer: A Discussion on Dua Qunoot
Question: Which supplication (dua) is better to recite in Witr: “Allahumma inna nasta’inuka wa nastaghfiruka wa nu’minu bika wa natawakkalu ‘alayk…” or “Allahumma ihdini fiman hadayta wa ‘afini fiman ‘afayta”?
Answer: Both of the mentioned supplications are established as part of Dua Qunoot. When there are multiple supplications, it is preferable to alternate between them—sometimes reciting one and sometimes the other, as there are also multiple supplications for the opening of prayer (Dua Iftitah). So, one can recite either supplication sometimes or consistently recite only one; there is no issue with either approach.
